What are our capabilities and skills?Family Safety Services personnel are professional and dedicated to the prevention of family violence. They have the ability to challenge violent behaviour in a respectful way, facilitation skills, empathetic listeners, and are clear communicators.
FSS have committed trained facilitators to provide anger management for men, women and youth; counselling for anxiety and depression; counselling for couples and families as well as youth mentoring. FSS programmes provide skills and behaviours that lead to safe and respectful families. FSS provide effective responses to family violence episodes through counselling, group programmes and support. FSS programmes are reviewed on an on-going basis to ensure they are meeting the needs of families and individuals . FSS personnel maintain their competence through regular supervision as well as undertaking appropriate professional development activities. FSS will recommend referrals to other approved agencies when specialised knowledge is needed for clients with their consent. FSS has a viable service capable of supporting all staff in accordance with approved standards and guidelines. FSS management ensure that policies are developed and updated and take responsibility to report any concerns. FSS personnel ensure we have appropriate community liaison and networking links to support clients of the agency. Mark Ambler
